workshops

recent

Chinese - Japanese Calligraphy: In a recent workshop the practices of body (in physical movement), speech (in written characters) and mind (in meditative contemplation) from these traditional arts were combined. With skilled, trained novices and beginners present, art and play resulted, ~ conversation flowed.

Oblique Inspiration: A recent workshop was held at.the.space facilitated by Jessica Connor visiting from Victoria.

Designed for sustainability practitioners, the Art of Becoming ~ Creating Sustainable Futures workshop allowed an inquiry for each person into their own sustainability practice in a enablement of Adaptive Mind.

This beautiful work draws from Natalie McDonagh's inspirational designs and processes (link) . It is hoped there will be a repeat course in the near future.

Ocea Sellar: Ocea Sellar is a visual artist working with HD digital video. She graduated with first class honours in Art from Curtin University of Technology in 2007. The work follows her fascination with the pace of living to explore relationships between speed, stillness, technology and still life.

Ocea utilised the.space to exhibit her work to a potential, turned confirmed, buyer. She found the space "a perfect meeting space for conversations where focus is desired."

We welcome emerging artists needing a temporary exhibition space or wanting an excuse to have their first solo show.

willlvarey: Emerging out of complete obscurity this retrospective photographic exhibition (1988-2008) as a study in apithologia draws from a vast body of confused work to capture brief moments of humanity, nature and the environment (doing their thing). Read more ... (link)

This event is also the launch of the jazz soundscapes music CD 'apithologia', which takes amateur musical understatement to new levels. (Listen now) View publication (link) and montage (link) View opening (link)

Save Freo Beaches: The successful community response and campaign to the Three Harbours Policy made use of the.space to consider consciously the process used for advocating the development proposals for the Fremantle harbours.

By bringing to light many overlooked considerations they helped inform others of a community of perspectives hidden from view. They are to be congratulated on the mindfulness of their approach to date.

Apithologue: The third in a series of apithologues within the discipline of apithology was held at.the.space over a period of eleven months. This apithologue inquired behind some of the basic premises for the sustainable growth of small to medium sized enterprises and the contexts for ethical consulting in that work space.

As previous apithologues have been held online in customised virtual spaces, the face to face meetings at.the.space provided a great context for the leisure and intensity of this exploration.
